The Fall of 95 was very eventful for most of us
and we unfortunately did not get much of a chance to work on @tlas.
We ran out of room and were not able to add anymore content
until this February.
Organic Online is now putting us up and from now on
so we should be able to fatten up @tlas without too much trouble
and on a regular basis. @tlas will be redesigned with each issue while we work
on an interface which is less linear and better suited for the on-line medium,
less constricting and constricted! @tlas is our labor of love
and as of yet is a non-commercial venture.
A year or so ago Michael Macrone and I decided
that publishing an on-line magazine would be a great way to get
our work and that of our friends published without having
to rely on the mainstream media.
So far it's been a success and we hope to build this site into
one of the best on-line magazine anywhere.
This issue designed by David Karam of
Post Tool Design (
posttool@sirius.com) is our
first attempt at providing you with editorial content.
We decided to put it up as soon as possible
since very little had been uploaded in months. Some pages might be
under construction for a little while
and a few more items might pop up as we keep
building this Winter's edition.
We want to know how we can better
design this magazine. We need to know how fast you are
connecting to @tlas, who you are and
what you do, what are your likes and dislikes,
how patient you are, what kind of set
up is on the other end of this line,
particularly your monitor (size and # of colors)
and how big you would like images to be displayed.
With this issue we will be introducing what we call story links,
whereas any images that are content relevant with other images
will be linked together ad infinitum.
Within a few issues you will be able to travel in @tlas
without having to follow a particular path preset by us.
As this amorphous web grows new layers of information will be continually added
to create a parallel and serendipitous @tlas,
unrestrained by the structure and flow of a particular story.
When you see a story link icon click on it and see where it takes you.
In a few months as we keep
making connections you should be able
to move through @tlas
either by using story links icons
or by following a preset path, or both.
